Excellence Blog Post #10 Drum lessons - Can Do

This week at my Drum Lessons I started to learn to second bridge on the song that I am working on which is called "In The Summertime" by Thirsty Merc. I have been learning this song for about 4 weeks every Friday for about half an hour and I have already gotta past the chorus which is pretty good for my age.

The learner quality that I showed at my drum lesson was Active Thinking because even though I didn't have anything else to learn I just kept practicing my song and learning my new one.

I showed leadership at my drum lesson by knowing when and where to start practicing in my song.

I can take action to improve the water cycle in Canterbury

In this project I was working with Sasha, Nic and Dylan, we decided to create A cute children's book online named "here comes the rain" (On Story Jumper)

Here is a link what we made

In this project we decided that our success criteria were: (list the criteria you created on slide 7)

A good Children’s Story needs...
Why is this important?
Strong characters who evoke strong emotion
So Children get attached to the character.
One that contains a simple and original idea presented with clarity and great power.
So children can read it easily
One that makes the world seem larger and more interesting.
So children get attached to the book
Make sure the words we use is easy for children to understand
So they understand what we are saying
Make sure we have pretty pictures
So they get interested in the pictures

Overall our project met this criteria because we finished it in time and we also made sure that the children liked the book by testing it on them.

Excellence Blog Post #9 Drum Lessons - Can Do

This week at my Drum lessons I was learning the chorus of my song which is when you have to build up the chorus by moving from the high hat and th strum to the crash and then building it up a little more and quickly moving to the kick and the crash and doing the same beat but including some accents on th simbles to add a little more affect on the song and the other instruments in the background.

The learner quality that I showed this week at my drum lessons was Community because I helped the other person who I was doing my drum lessons with, with the eats that they couldn't get the first time.

I showed leadership at my Drum lessons this week by helping the other person who couldn't get some of the beats.

Excellence Blog Post #8 Peer Mediation - Can Do

This week for my Perr Mediation I was on a Monday so I got to do my duty unlike a lot of other people because we had a sports vent named Koru Games. This week we got a very serious problem that we could only solve until it went too far. Th problem was a couple year 7's made a bet with each other for $50 and of course someone won the bet and the other person didn't want to pay them that much money because they thourght that they were going to win when they didn't.

The Leadership qualities that I showed on my Peer Mediation duty this week were Active Thinking and Respect because I used Active Thinking by knowing when to tell the teacher when it went too far and I also used Respect by telling them the rules since we are thesameageso they probably thourght thatcher didn't recto follow thermos and that they could just talk.

I showed leadership on my Peer Mediation duty this week by knowing when to tell a teacher about the problem when it started to get a little too out of hand.

My Care Progress So Far

The CARE award that I am working towards is: Silver

The one area of CARE that I am doing best in is: Classroom           because: That is the one where I fill up first.

The one area of CARE that I need to work harder in is: playground            because: I never really get pozi's because I never join in the PALS games.

To show my leadership qualities I am a role model to others in the CARE values by doing/showing these leadership traits: Active Thinking, Honesty, Goal Focused E.T.C

On the CARE SOLO matrix below I am at this SOLO level: Relational            because: I can get ticks easily but I don't really help others to work towards it.

Prestructural

Unistructural

Multistructural

Relational

Extended Abstract
I am not aware of the CARE values yet.
I know what the CARE values mean.

I need help to use them.
I can use the CARE values.

I need reminding to use them.
I can use the CARE values independently.
I can use the CARE values independently.

I can role model to others how to use the CARE values.

Excellence Blog Post #5 Getting Involved - Must Do

Last week there was a PALS game (Capture The Flag), and I joined in because they didn't have enough people and even though I didn't really want to play Capture The Flag I did it because it was going to help them out by getting the game started.

The learner quality that I showed when I was playing the PALS game was Active Thinking because even though I didn't have to play the game, I did to help them out.

I showed Leadership by knowing that it was the right think to do by playing the game because they didn't have enough players for it.

Excellence Blog Post #4 Help Out Around The School - Must Do

I helped out around the school by one time after lunch about 2 weeks ago someone left the coons out for some reason so before I came into class I went out and picked them all up so the other students wouldn't kick them over or something like that.

The learner quality that I showed while I was picking up the coons was Community because I new that know one else was going to pick them up s I took the responsibility to pick them up by myself.

I showed leadership by doing this by showing the smaller students that you should show Community even when you are not asked.

Excellence Blog Post #3 Being A Good Role Model For The Kakano Kids - Must Do

I was a good Role Model for the Kakano kids in the latest Whole School Hui by not talking to the person beside my and listening and looking at the speaker/presentation. I also showed this by when someone talked to my i would ignore them or say that they should also listen cause this might be important.

The learner quality that I showed at the Whole school Hui was respect because I wasn't only thinking about my self when someone talked to me I tried to tell them that they might get in trouble.

I showed Leadership at the Whole School Hui by showing the Kakano team that if others are listening then they should too.

Excellence Blog Post #7 Drum Lessons - Can Do

This week at drum lessons I just practiced the song that I am learning to play. The beat that I have to learn isn't just on the strum this time and it is including all of the parts of the drum kit instead of just two parts at the front. I also started to get better at my accents which is when you hit the cymbal hard and then you lightly hit the middle of it but the difficult part of accents is that you have to put it into a beat and when you put in into a fast beat then it is very easy to get confused.

The learner quality that I showed at Drum lessons was active thinking because when he was working with the other student in the room I showed Active Thinking by knowing that I shouldn't interrupt him.

I showed leadership at my Drum Lessons by when the other student didn't know the beat I helped him by showing him how to play it by slowing down.

Excellence Blog Post #6 Peer Mediation - Can Do

This week at Peer Mediation we had no problems what so ever. But we went around the senior playground and over by the 1st and 2nd Football fields where we saw a few year 5's that looked like they were having a problem but then when we asked they said that there wasn't anything wrong which was weird because we saw them yelling at each other but they all said that there wasn't a problem.

The learner quality that I think I showed on my Peer Mediation duty was Respect because when the year 5's said there wasn't a problem I just said okay and walked away and didn't make it a big deal.

I showed leadership on my Peer Mediation duty this week by even though the year 5's didn't come up to me, I saw that something might be wrong so I asked them myself.
