Merit Blog Post #4 Drum Lessons-- Can Do

At drum lessons at the moment the only thing I am learning to do is switch from beat to beat so it sounds like a real song.

The learning quality I showed at drum lessons was Resilience because I didn't give up on any of the beats.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader. Here is a link to the Leadership modelling book. We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are goal focused, Active Thinker,Motivational, Integrity ,Trustworthy and Resilient The leadership trait that I think I show the most was Resilient because I tried a lot of different Strategies. The leadership trait I would most like to develop is Goal focused because I always get distracted when i'm around my friends and stuff. The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is Extended Abstuct because I finished my exposition and everything else. My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Arts Rotation WALT: Present An Improvisation Drama Performance.

Improvisation techniques that I have used successfully are saying yes to all questions and scenarios.

Improvisation techniques that I would like to have more practice are thinking fast and being more creative.

The thing that I enjoyed most about this unit of learning was being able to play all the improvisation games because it helps with my confidence in front of an people.

The thing that I found most challenging during this unit of learning was being in front of a large group of people because i usually don't like standing up in frnt of a big crowd.

My favorite improv game was the present game because you got to be creative about what you said.

My next step/ something I need to work on further  in improvisation is speaking in front of people because it usually is something i don't like to do

Merit Blog Post #1 Technology-- Must Do

On the bus to tech knowledge we started off quite loud and the bus drivers had to stop a few times but as we had tech for a couple more weeks we started getting better and now the bus driver doesn't even have to tell us the be a little more quiet.

The learning quality that I showed on the bus to tech was respect because I didn't play with the windows unlike some people that did throughout the whole bus trip.

Merit Blog Post #6 Peer Mediation-- Can Do

This week when I was on Peer Mediation Austin and I went around the playground and the feild because we couldn't see a teacher that was near there at the time. Thankfully there were only minor fight so we didn't have to get a teacher involved.

The learning quality that I showed on my duty was goal focused because even when we Thought that we couldn't really solve the problem we kept trying and then at the end of the shift we reliesed that it wasn't even a big problem anyway, it just seemed like it cause we were stressed I think. 

Merit Blog Post #5 Peer Mediation-- Can Do

The last time I did Peer Mediation Austin and I went around the playgrounds and we went around the junior area and we tried to sort out this problem between two year fours about one of them stealing a ball from the other. In the end they didn't get it sorted with us but then they talked about it with their teacher and she sorted it out and now they are fine.

The learner quality that I demonstrated was Respect because even when the students got angry and sad I didn't get angry at them or frustrated I helped them get better and solve the problem in the end

I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

For my “Evaluating Leaders” research I have been researching about Brendon McCullum and Barack Obama.

this unit I have had to use a range of strategies to find the information I needed on Google. This included cross searching so you know that the the item you are searching is true and using links so my readers could find out more about Brendon McCullum or Barack Obama.

I have achieved this goal because I know hoe to link research and i know when i have to cross check and how.

My next step is to set a new reading goal

Merit Blog Post #5 Swimming Sports-- Must Do

Today we did swimming sports and I came second in one race and third in the other race. We traveled to Jellie Park and the Juniors played outside while the seniors did all the races in the inside pool. There was a length race and a short race and I did the short race.

The learning quality I showed that day was Goal Focused because even though swimming isn't my favorite sport I still gave it a go and gave it my best,
