My Short Story

For this piece of writing I have focused on my vocabulary and punctuation. I have been learning to...
  • use a range of precise vocabulary to communicate meaning (Year ⅞)
  • use all basic punctuation independently and attempt more complex punctuation (E.G. semicolons, colons, parentheses) (Year 7/8)
The pieces of my writing that are highlighted green are where I have shown my vocabulary and punctuation goal

My Story... Category 3 miracle

“ I would love to go to a holiday camp I said excitedly.

So we set off on our adventure up the Mountain all the way up to the top of the camp site.

As soon as we get there I literally sprint to the reception zone to find out who my leader for the week was and who my cabin mates were. I get to my cabin and my leader looks like a positive person who is also really excited to be here, her name was Lucinda, and then there were my cabin mates who were also really, lets say INTERESTING, like i'm not trying to be mean but they were quite weird. One was OBSESSED with snakes; and the others… don’t get me started. But anyways, for them this was their first camp too. so we were all on the same level with what's happening.

We go to our first activity which is Abseiling and I was probably the most excited out of the 40 people who were coming with us to the Abseiling wall. I waited and waited for my turn which seemed like forever but then it came  to my turn and I walked slowly up the STEEP steps to the top of the abseiling wall; I got strapped in a tight piece of rope and they told me to slowly start walking down the wall. I was halfway down the wall and suddenly Everything around me started shaking and all i heard were people screaming a running while they were trying to hurry me down the wall. I finally get the solid ground and started following everyone to where they told us to go too.

I followed the leaders until we got to this solid; metal shelter that looked pretty stable, so we all squished inside the the shelter and waited for what seemed like forever. We waited and waited then suddenly there was no noise… like at all, so  we waited for a little be longer just In case so no one got blown away again. After about 5 minutes of it being silent one of the experienced leaders looked out of the shelter, and you really couldn't believe what happened next.

when the leader looked out of the shelter it was the sunniest day that anyone of us have ever seen in months, maybe even years. The grass was dry even though we were practically getting blown away with the wind and rain when we were trying to get back to the camp site. We walked around the whole of the camp site just to make sure nothing got damaged and to our complete surprise there was NOTHING Damaged… At all… Honestly, the first thing everyone thought was that we had flown away like in the wizard of Oz… But nope that was the camp site. And even to this day no one knew how all of that commotion happened... yet nothing really happened.

Merit Blog Post #1 Peer Mediation-- Can Do

Last week at Peer Mediation we didn't get any problems but we walked around the senior then Junior playground and areas.

The learner quality that i showed at Peer Mediation was Goal focused because even though we didn't get any problems a didn't act like the job didn't matter anymore, I kept walking around until my duty was over.

I can describe the structure of a Short Story

Something I have learned about the structure of short stories is that knowing what the problem and solution is because then it helps me finsh the story

After reading one short story two things I will remember when I write my own short story are to keep it short and simple.
