Merit Blog Post #4 Helping out around the school-- Must Do

I helped out with the Junior PALS game because I saw that my friends were struggling with all of the children that really wanted to play so I went over and I helped to put them into their teams even though most of them just changed teams to be with their friends.

The learning quality I used that day was Active Thinking because I saw that my friends were struggling with all the little kids so I stepped in and helped them out.

Year 7/8 Standard: Use side or edge lengths to find the perimeters and areas of rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles and the volumes of cuboids.

The best possible outcome

Problem 3:
PROBLEM 1…
4 rows of 9 because then it would make a rectangle which is convenient because that's what the person in the question wants.

PROBLEM 2…
8 rows of 6 because then if would be the same as the other question it would make a rectangle which is what the people in the question wanted.
PROBLEM 3…
You would need about 3 bags i think because 30 times 20 is 600 divided by 200 is 3

How My Student Led Conference Went...

The things I enjoyed most about my S.L.C were being able to share my learning with my parents and hearing the teacher saying nice things about me to my parents.

What went well and why... Miss O said good things about me and talked about how I would make a good leader.

What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your S.L.C?
Getting all of the right information that was online and in one of my subject books.

What changes would you make for next time and why? Showing my parents more of my maths and more of the IXL tasks that I have been doing so she can understand why my E Asttle was a little low.

Merit Blog Post #7 Peer Mediation- Can Do

This week for Peer Mediation changed my partner and we went around the senior playground the junior  part of the field and then around the music room. We got no problems which was good for the school but a little bit boring for us.

The learner quality that I showed at Peer Mediation was Goal Focused because even though we weren't getting any problems I didn't get off the duty till i was meant too.

Merit Blog Post #3 Being a good role model for the students in the Kakano Team-- Must Do

Last week we went down to the Junior classes to get to know our new buddies for the term and we had to get them to show us their learning. We also did our best to get to know them along the way, we had half an hour to get to now them before we saw them the next week.

The learning Quality I showed that day was Resilience because half way through the 30 minutes  I realized that they were not listening so I changed my tactic to get them to listen more.

Merit Blog Post #3 Drum Lessons-- Can do

Last week at drum lessons my teacher told me how to do a lot of Technics with fills, the basic drum beat and the fills that you can put in after the basic drum beat. I also learnt to intro to the TV show EastEnders.

Example/Non Example
Is a void messy? Why or why not?
It's not messy because there is nothing in a void.
Which color is the most fluorescent at night? Why?
Pitch black, because that is usually the colour when it is dark.
Why are elderly people more vulnerable than children? Why?
Because it is harder for them to understand things and they don’t fight back.
Which is more interconnected; a vine or a dandelion? Why?
A dandelion because people like making DANDELION CROWNS!!!
Which is more seldom; the Olympics or an election in NZ? Why?
The olympics because it only happens in every 4 years and in an election it only happens every 2 years.

Word Relationships

How might each pair of words be connected?
Vulnerable/Fluorescent
A biker could be wearing a Fluorescent vest when they are biking to keep them safe so they aren’t vulnerable to others.
Void/interconnected
It's like a cave when all of the rocks are interconnected with each other yet there is a big empty space ( A Void).

Extended Writing
Think of a time when you felt as though you were in a void or when you saw something that happens seldom. Write a paragraph about this.
In England we went into a museum and we came to this big tunnel that we had to walk through to get to the end of the museum. We stepped into the bridge/tunnel and on the cylinder walls it was like a galaxy because they had stuff on the walk that make it look like we were in outer space and they had stars that glow up and everything; So it felt like we were in a void.
